Pathway to work as registered Physiotherapist on PR Basis in Australia
Physiotherapist community has are now become an important part of Healthcare system. This profession is in great demand in Australia. In the recent years, there is a sudden hike in terms of income and job opportunities in this field.
There is a complete pathway to work as registered Healthcare Professional (Physiotherapy). The applicant must
follow these steps:
Step 1: Qualify OET
First step is to qualify OET with minimum of B score in each of the four modules( Reading, Writing, Reading and Speaking).
Step 2: Application filing to AHPRA to get admission in Bridging Program
After qualifying the English language test, the candidates have to file an application to AHPRA group. AHPRA is Australian Health Practitioner Regulating Agency. In coordination with National boards, AHPRA controls all the Health practitioner activities like Registration etc.
About the bridging program
It is mandatory for all overseas Doctors to complete this program to get registered at AHPRA. This program has duration of 9 weeks which includes:
1. 4 weeks: Theory sessions at campus
2. 5 weeks: Professional experience placement sessions at clinical facilities
Step 3: Confirmation letter from AHPRA
The applicant would get a confirmation Letter from AHPRA for the admission in Bridging program.
Step 4: VISA formalities
The applicants would get three months visa to do the bridging program in the country of interest.
Step 5: Certification
After successful completion of the technical program, the candidate would get a certificate and this completes the eligibility for registration.
Step 6: Written Assessment
The Physiotherapists have to give an examination which has 2 parts
The theoretical exam
This examination includes 15 case studies each for written assessment and clinical assessment. The cases are drawn from the key areas of clinical practice (musculoskeletal, cardio respiratory and neurology). The candidate should score minimum of 55% marks in the test to qualify it.
This examination is held four times a year March, June, September and December in Australia and March and September in India.
Step 7: PR assessment
Duration: It takes approximately 8 to 10 months for complete process.
