Pathway to Work as Registered Medicine Professional in Australia on PR Basis.
All overseas trained Medicine Health Professionals are assessed by AMC i.e. Australian Medicine Council. After assessment, doctors are allowed to obtain registration in Australia. From application to verification of medical qualifications for migration purpose, AHPRA and AMC assesses all the activities.
There is a complete pathway to work as registered Healthcare Professional (Medicine). The applicant must follow
Step 1: Qualify OET
First step is to qualify OET with minimum of B score in each of the four modules (Reading, Writing, Reading and Speaking).
Step 2: Application filing to AHPRA to get admission in Bridging Program
After qualifying the English language test, the candidates have to file an application to AHPRA group. AHPRA is Australian Health Practitioner Regulating Agency. In coordination with National boards, AHPRA controls all the Health practitioner activities like Registration etc.
About the bridging program
It is mandatory for all overseas Doctors to complete this program to get registered at AHPRA. This program has duration of 9 weeks which includes:
1. 4 weeks: Theory sessions at campus
2. 5 weeks: Professional experience placement sessions at clinical facilities
Step 3: Confirmation letter from AHPRA
The applicant would get a confirmation Letter from AHPRA for the admission in Bridging program.
Step 4: VISA formalities
The applicants would get three months visa to do the bridging program in the country of interest.
Step 5: Certification
After successful completion of the technical program, the candidate would get a certificate and this completes the eligibility for registration.
Step 6: Assessment by AMC
Health Professionals have to give an examination which has 2 parts
The theoretical exam (Preliminary Exam)
The written exam consist of multiple type questions and Short Answer Questions where as clinical assessment is sort of practical exam.
The Preliminary written Examination is usually held in the month of March and September in India, Australia and many other countries but the final Examination is held only in Australia, usually twice a year in July and November.
Step 7: PR assessment
Duration: It takes approximately 8 to 10 months for complete process.
